Experiences can guide us. We can learn from our failures and successes. We can also measure our lives by them. Without them, navigating the world without a map might be difficult.
James Feist’s healthcare industry experience stretches back to 1993, when he and his son Guy C Feist started an MPLI (medical professional liability insurance) agency. In 2003, their future partners, Joe Spann and Brad Bond, left Hillcrest and created PMAG, which in 2011 became Fifth Avenue Healthcare Services, of which Mr. James Feist is today’s Chairman.
Mr. Feist’s decades of knowledge have helped raise Fifth Avenue Healthcare Services as an industry leader in credentialing, medical professional liability insurance solutions, and provider enrollment.
Julius Caesar once wrote, “Experience is the teacher of all things.”
If this is true, then what has it taught Mr. Feist? Amid his education, experience, and professional background, Mr. Feist has seemingly found what is profoundly important in life – and it is rarely taught in textbooks.
James Feist’s Formative Years
James Feist comes from humble origins, born in Manchester, OK. Manchester, OK, sits on the northern Oklahoma border, just miles from Kansas. Manchester is not a small town, but a minuscule one with a population of 93. With a total land area of 0.2 square miles, Manchester’s population was larger when Mr. Feist came of age than it is now.
The Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railroad used to pass through the town. Perhaps a young James Feist speculated where the tracks took the railcars. Maybe he even imagined following the tracks to find a place where he could leave his mark.
Leaving Manchester to join the US Army, Mr. Feist served our country during the Vietnam conflict. Mr. Feist was a gunner and rescue pilot, holding the rank of Captain.
Closer to home, Mr. Feist earned his MS degree in Marketing from Oklahoma State University. He received his MBA from the University of Oklahoma.
He first got his insurance license in January 1968, which he still holds. Mr. Feist also holds designations as a Charted Financial Consultant (ChFC) and a Charted Life Underwriter (CLU), both achieved at The American College of Financial Services. The ChFC designation means Mr. Feist can provide financial advice on taxes, retirement planning, wealth management, and insurance. The CLU certification proves his expertise in life insurance underwriting concepts and life insurance law.
Jim Feist, Fifth Avenue Agency, and Fifth Avenue Healthcare Services
In 1993, James Feist and his son Guy Feist founded an MPLI agency, Fifth Avenue Agency which today is located in Edmond, OK. The expertise and reputation they garnered over the years paid off when they joined with Joe Spann and Brad Bond, eventually forming Fifth Avenue Healthcare Services around 2011. The Fifth Avenue companies now include Primoris Credentialing Network, Fifth Avenue Agency, and their CVO, 5ACVO.
Fifth Avenue Agency is an independent medical malpractice insurance agency that collaborates with numerous carriers to give their clients the most effective coverage possible. When Jim initially met his future partners, Joe and Brad ran the Physician Management Assistance Group, providing credentialing services. Both companies worked together, enjoying a solid synergy that lasts to this day throughout Fifth Avenue Healthcare Services’ companies.
5ACVO is a credentialing verification organization with clients in 20+ states. The company focuses on reducing overhead expenses, facilitating access to expertise, and expediting the credentialing process. Primoris Credentialing Network leverages the credentialing data and technology of the Fifth Avenue group to simplify and speed up medical malpractice insurance shopping, offering 54+ health plan and network provider enrollment options.
As a unified whole, Fifth Avenue Healthcare Services can produce results that matter with a fantastic team of experts and professionals led by Mr. James Feist, Guy Feist, Brad Bond, and Joe Spann.
What is Truly Important?
Co-Founder. Chairman. Owner. Mr. Feist can be proud of these titles, but he might be fonder of another: family man. A man of faith and family, Mr. James Feist has a wealth of experience as a husband, father, and grandfather. James Feist married the love of his life, Beverly, on December 28, 1968. They have been together for 50+ years! Their family includes three children (Guy Feist, Amy Simon, and Amber Feist) and six grandchildren. Amy works with Mr. Feist at Fifth Avenue Agency as Director of Client Services like her brother. The family affair does not end with her. Karly Feist, one of the six grandchildren, works with her grandfather at Fifth Avenue Agency as a Client Services Specialist.
“He is my biggest hero and role model,” Amy says of her father.
Truly someone we all admire, appreciate, and strive to emulate. Thank you, Mr. Feist, for your example and leadership at Fifth Avenue!
