Dr. Mark Mathers’ Education and Experience
Dr. Mathers grew up west of Enid, Oklahoma. He attended the College of Osteopathic Surgery at Oklahoma State University (OSU), one of 38 osteopathic medical schools in the United States.
The OSU College of Osteopathic Medicine has graduated over 3,000 physicians, with 1,500+ staying in Oklahoma. 33% practice in specialties like dermatology, neurology, and surgery, while the rest practice primary care. The school has had 100% residency placement for the past six years. Osteopathy operates on the idea that every body system depends on each other. A Doctor of Osteopathy typically applies holistic practices, concentrating on preventative methods to remain healthy.
Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine are trained to use their hands to diagnose and treat musculoskeletal conditions. Their expertise can augment medical technology in treating patients. Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine are fully licensed physicians who can practice in various specialties like cardiology.
Dr. Mathers’ Fellowship and Certifications
Dr. Mathers completed five years of general surgery training and a 2-year Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery residency program. Additionally, he completed a one-year fellowship in Microsurgery. This organization provides approved American Osteopathic Association (AOA) board certification to qualified Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine who specialize in surgery to assist in identifying and treating diseases.

Bolstering his commitment to medicine, Dr. Mathers serves in several medical associations like the Tulsa Surgical Society and the Oklahoma Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons. The American Red Cross is one of the most recognizable relief organizations in the country and perhaps the world. Since 1881, Red Cross volunteers and staff have helped families and communities recover from disasters, provided blood donation services, and offered health and safety courses.
